Suspects with machetes, baseball bats invade local home

PANAMA CITY ? A local man was attacked by a group of people with baseball bats, machetes and pepper spray Wednesday night, police said.

Investigators were searching Thursday for the three suspects in the home invasion, which happened at about 8:40 p.m. at 404 Hamilton Ave.

?The case is under investigation,? said Sgt. Jeff Becker, who added it was unclear if the suspects knew the victim.?

According to an incident report, three men entered Andrew Bagwell?s home and hit him with a bat on the leg and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. A woman at the scene, Linda Segers-Meier, escaped from the home and called police, the report said. Segers-Meier added that one of the suspects had a machete.

Officers described Bagwell as ?extremely intoxicated? and said he had ?difficulty telling us what the males were after.? The men were described as black and at least one may have been wearing a bandana.

Nothing was taken from the home, the report states.
