Hundreds of people turned out Friday night to kick off the holiday season and thank veterans for their service.

?We?re having a parade,? said Ava Farris, a parade goer.

Floats flooded Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers. People came to kick off the holiday season and celebrate veterans.

?Combining the holiday season and recognizing the military members, the veterans, it can?t get much better than that,? said Dave Bowman, a veteran.

Bowman served in the Air Force for 20 years. ?No matter what service, no matter when, it?s important to recognize that these people are out there,? he said.

A mix of patriotic floats and some favorite Christmas characters participated in the parade.

People spent time with families and remembered those serving.

?The veterans have put in a lot of their lives into making this kind of night available and that?s what it?s all about,? said Bowman.

Parade goers give thanks this holiday season. ?I just want to say Merry Christmas to all the servicemen and service ladies oversees and in the United States. Thank you for our freedom,? said Shawn Bowman, a parade goer.

Floats in Friday night?s parade were also awarded prizes.
